Participant Choice and Control of Services

SDAN MEETING ~ REGISTRATION REQUIRED Self-Direction Stakeholder Review and Discussion of DDA Waiver Amendment  Friday, June 20th 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM

As a matter of concern to all DDA waiver participants, the Maryland Department of Health, Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) has released a draft Medicaid Waiver Amendment Application. Proposed changes include consolidation of the Family Supports Waiver and Community Supports Waiver into the Community Pathways Waiver.

On Friday, June 20, 2025, via Zoom,
The Self-Directed Advocacy Network of Maryland (SDAN)
invites you to learn how these proposed changes may impact Self-Directed Services (SDS).

Before the proposed amendment can be submitted for approval by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), there is a mandatory 30-day public comment period.
The DDA will accept public comment from June 9 to July 8, 2025.
Public comment can be submitted directly to wfb.dda@maryland.gov.

We encourage you to share your thoughts, suggestions, and concerns as a member of the self-directed community. Please help inform SDAN’S written commentary on the proposed changes.
Your comments can be emailed to info@marylandsds.org or share your questions through chat
during the June 20th meeting.

Why should you get involved?

What may be at stake?

  • Your choice of who provides your needed supports, when and how often you receive them, and what services are delivered.
  • Services that are less personal, less effective, and less aligned with your needs and goals.
  • More restrictions, fewer options, and more red tape.
  • Your health, safety, and inclusion in your community.
  • Further erosion of your choice and control over waiver services.
