Patti is the proud mother of three adult children, Emma, Adam, and the late Ethan Saylor. She is the owner of Health Link LLC, a business providing Nursing Consultation and Nursing Case Management and Delegation services both to independent schools and individuals with disabilities. Patti has been working for individuals self-directing their DDA waiver services since the inception of Self-Directed Services in Maryland over fifteen years ago. She is a registered nurse with advanced degrees in special education, psychology and therapeutic recreation. Patti is a lifelong advocate and human rights activist believing in Self Determination. Her core belief is that everyone deserves to have the supports they need to live their good life.

Patti’s son Ethan, who had Down Syndrome, died in 2013 during an interaction with an off-duty police officer. Determined to prevent future tragedies, Patti worked to establish the Ethan Saylor Alliance for Self-Advocates as Educators,  a state-sponsored entity established through legislation. The purpose of the Alliance is to recruit, train, and support people with disabilities so they can educate first responders about interactions with people with disabilities.
